Open Tech Summit - a short review

This year's OpenTechSummit took place in the "Kalkscheune" in Berlin-Mitte, right next to the Friedrichstadtpalast. It was a hive of activity, with loud music, soldering and discussions, other rooms were signposted "Do not disturb", Linux exams were taking place there. In two lecture halls, about 50 speakers from all over the world presented their projects in short talks, including pure software topics (e.g. developers of the VLC Media Player or the German Wikipedia) as well as more or less application-related projects (embroidery software, Linux distribution, a DIY book scanner, a film project, etc.). The meeting was organised by the Friends of a Free Information Infrastructure e.V. (FFII)who runs an office in Berlin.

The lecture "Why do we need Free Colour?" (-> precisely because of the licensing and numerous other restrictions on the systems in use) met with an interested audience and opened up further contacts and perspectives.

Thank you for the invitation!
